As your home-town Oklahoma City Chrysler dealer, we thought it would be important to share this awesome piece of news - our Chrysler brand surpassed Ford on Consumer Reports Reliability Survey. For years, the two brands battled, trying to bring the latest and greatest in automotive technology to America’s fingertips, hoping to win love and loyalty. And time has finally changed.
Ford has been a strong competitor, holding America captive as the American-born favorite; however, tiem changes everything. For some of you, this won’t come as a big surprise as it was announced that Consumer Reports 2011 Annual Car Reliability survey revealed Chrysler jumping ahead Ford.
Instead of Ford’s new models increasing interest, it's three newest models, the Explorer, Fiesta, and Focus, all seem to be doing more harm than good. All three models had below-average reliability in their first year, making Ford sink from 10th to 20th on the reliability scale of 28 major automotive companies. That’s the biggest drop for any major automotive company in the 2011 Consumer Report.![]()
In contrast, Chrysler’s Jeep brand has raised seven spots up to #13, making it the most reliable domestic brand. All the available data for various models of the Jeep proved to have an average or above reliability ranking. Chrysler moved up 12 spots, and Dodge moved up three, respectively.
So why is this such a big change? Ford’s falling may be attributed to trouble with new technology: the new MyFord Touch infotainment system, as well as the new automated-manual transmission in the Fiesta and Focus. Not all of Ford’s models brought home poor report cards, though; the new Ford Fusion Hybrid brought home a gold star.

Chrysler, however, seemed to bring home a whole galaxy with its new models, including the Chrysler 200 (formerly Sebring), the Dodge Durango, and the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The newest model, the 300, is too new for Consumer Reports to have sufficient data, and thus was not included.
